They may be too young to be fans yet of either Doctor Who or Downton Abbey but pint-size viewers of the Disney Junior channel will soon get their first exposure to Matt Smith and Michelle Dockery. The two British TV stars – Smith is on Doctor Who and Dockery in Downton Abbey – are among the celebrities who’ve signed on to narrate poems as part of Disney Junior’s “A Poem Is … “ series. Smith will make his debut – he’ll be heard reading while animated clips from various Disney cartoons appear on the screen – with “De Colores,” a traditional folk song, this Saturday, January 5 at 8:55 a.m. On January 19 at 7:55 a.m., he’ll read “Once They All Believed in Dragons” by Jack Prelutsky. Michelle Dockery will read “It’s a Pleasant Day” by Eliza Lee Cabot Follen this Sunday, January 6 at 8:55 a.m. (Her reading of “Pleasant Day” aired previously on Disney Junior in the U.K.) Downton fans might want to consider her presentation an appetizer before they feast on watching her as Lady Mary Crawley in the first episode of season three of the popular period drama later that evening on PBS.
