夜色在雾气中弥漫，最后吞没了整个城市。
【生命在他里头。这生命就是人的光。】
【In him was life; and the life was the light of men.】
贵族打扮的男人颤栗地跪在祭坛上，从上帝那里夺取氧气般粗声喘息着吟诵。
【光照在黑暗里，黑暗却不接受光。】
【And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 】
月光柔软地折射在彩绘玻璃的缝隙，然后刺在男人臃肿的后背。
【有一个人，是从神那里差来的，名叫约翰。】
【There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 】
远远地传来鞋跟敲击地面的声音，一下一下，不紧不慢，在偌大的教堂中宛若圣钟。
【这人来，为要作见证，就是为光作见证，叫众人因他可以信。】
【The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.】
男人挪动着发软的膝盖，去亲吻基督被钉死的双脚，铁锈味在嘴里漫延开来。
【他不是那光，乃是要为光作见证。】
【He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 】
如血的眸光照亮了他惊恐的脸，鲜血蜿蜒，他试图发出最后的尾音，然而只有圣钟在他耳边轰鸣。
【那光是真光，照亮一切生在世上的人。】
【That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 】
恶魔点燃了教堂的蜡烛，少年安静地站在祭坛前，仰起头看着巨大的十字架和尸体，似乎抬唇说了什么，又好像什么都没说。
【他在世界，世界也是借着他造的，世界却不认识他。】
【He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 】
“走了，Sebastian。”
恶魔没有吹灭蜡烛，只是微笑着跟上主人的脚步。
