Russian veteran Anna Pavlova led Gym Union Haguenau to second place. Pavlova, 25, competed the evening's only double-twisting Yurchenko for the high score of the women's meet with 15.350.

But it was Pavlova who stole the show for me that night. She trained with efficiency and an obvious joy, standing around smiling and just generally looking content. She competed the way she always has -- not without mistakes (a few wobbles on beam in spite of the preparation and a simpler bar routine -- really only at the Olympic Games has she lived up to her full potential), but always, always with elegance. She stuck her magnificent double-twisting Yurchenko, earning 15.3, the highest mark of the night in the women's team competition, and it was no surprise that when the silver trophy was handed to Haguenau (which finished second to Dunkerque), it was Pavlova who received it, grinning madly.
What a joy to see her still in the competitive arena, and what a shame the Russians choose to overlook her for their bigger affairs.

French National Championship
The SGS Union Haguenau team, whom Anna Pavlova was a member of at the French Championship, finished in Second Place! Anna's results of the competition are as follows:
