ABC have renewed Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and have also officially ordered the new Marvel series Agent Carter for the next TV season.
The renewal for SHIELD was presumed to be a slam dunk, but ABC, per usual, hadn't renewed any of their shows until the last minute.
Meanwhile, ABC and Marvel had been staying pretty quiet on Agent Carter, even as word began swirling that the show was likely to become a reality, bypassing the pilot stage. This wasn't as notable as it might be, given there already was a mini-pilot of sorts, via the Agent Carter Marvel One-Shot released last fall on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role from the Captain America films in the series, which will help show the establishment of SHIELD. Dominic Cooper is expected to have a recurring role as Howard Stark.
