Sun Yang Moves to 3rd in World in 400 Free

In his first Chinese National Championship meet since a three-month doping ban that was served without public knowledge, Sun Yang topped the men’s 400-meter free to move to third in the world rankings.
Sun turned in a winning time of 3:44.53 in the finale, moving to third in the world rankings. Only Mack Horton (3:42.84) and David McKeon (3:44.28) have been faster this year. This followed Sun’s earlier time in prelims of 3:48.60 that had put him 10th in the world rankings. Li Yunqi finished second in the event with a 3:50.73 with Tong Yang placing third in 3:50.74.
Last May, Sun tested positive for a banned substance and subsequently served a three-month suspension before anyone even knew he had served it. The suspension was made public in November, stunning the swimming community in the process.
Cao Yue topped the women’s 400-meter free in 4:05.86 to move to 10th in the world rankings. Shao Yiwen placed second in 4:07.01 with Guojun Jun earning third in 4:07.34.
In semifinal action, Chen Xinyi led the way in the women’s 100-meter fly with a 58.24. Lu Ying earned the second seed in 58.64 with Liu Zige turning in a 59.46. Ye Shiwen paced the women’s 200-meter IM semis with a 2:12.70, off her eighth-ranked season best of 2:11.50 from the BHP Super Series.

感觉孙杨恢复国际声誉可能还需要一段时间。但我们永远力挺他！大白加油！在冠军赛继续拿出好成绩，相信他一定能“用热爱去证明”。
