Securing our energy future is the most important problem that humanity faces in this century. As we all know burning fossil fuels is not sustainable, on the other hand , electricity has the advantages of easy to use , safety ,economical, clean , convenient to transport, widely range of applications. So we can predict that electricity takes place of the fossil fuels is the inevitable trend of the future energy consumption . The widely use of electricity need a drastically increased ability to store electrical energy. In the move toward an electrical economy, efficient energy storage such as super capacitors are expected to play an important role. Since the growing shortage of oil resources and the combustion engines exhaust a lot of greenhouse gas , the environment our lived is getting worse. People are studying the new electric storage devices instead of combustion engines .Super capacitors may replace some or all of the traditional engines as the traction power for vehicles in some day .

    Super capacitor is a new energy storage element between capacitor and battery, it has many advantages such as high power density, fast charge and discharge, long cycle life ,maintenance-free.We can look ahead that it will become an important part of the electric vehicles in the future. All in all , in the future life super capacitor is indispensable .
    So what is the super capacitor and how to get it ? These are the questions that we need to think about .We know that the combination of the right electrode materials with a proper electrolyte can successfully increase both the energy stored by the device and its power, but no perfect active material exists and no electrolyte suits every materials. However, today, many materials are available, such as coal-based foamy activated carbon .
    The activated carbon is the preferable super capacitor electrode material. Activated carbon for electrode material is required to have high specific surface area, good corrosion resistance, good high temperature stability, high electrical conductivity , controlled pore structure characteristics. The coal-based foamy activated carbon has good chemical stability and specific surface area with low cost and it’s easy to product. In addition ,our country is rich in coal ,using coal in a simple green technological condition with low energy consumption and zero pollution has a great significance of clean using of coal and development of super capacitor electrode materials .

      The super capacitor with coal-based activated carbon has the striking electrical performance .The specific capacitance can come up to 379F/g, 20 times of ordinary capacitors.
      After ten thousand times charge and discharge ,the super capacitor also can keep 92% specific capacitance. The leakage current only 0.06mA and the specific surface is greater than 1500m2/g, it means that 1g foamy carbon can hold three basketball courts. You only need ten seconds to charge it completely and you can use it fifty thousands times at 30 degrees below zero.
      Super capacitor is the new hope to the human . With no pollution during the process of assembly and using ,it is an ideal green environmental power source. But it isn’t perfect , it can’t be used at the alternating current . So the development of the world still needs our efforts.
