冒昧修改几则复旦老师的翻译答案

以下是复旦大学编《大学英语》精读翻译练习答案上的若干句子，笔者以为似有改正或改进余地。
Book I
Unit 6
5、我想先和你讨论一下这篇文章的英译稿，然后再把它寄给霍布斯先生。
I’d like to talk over with you about the English translation of the article before sending it to Mr. Hobbs.
张译：I’d like to talk with you over the English translation of the article before sending it to Mr. Hobbs.
理由：只能说talk over sth.（或talk sth. over），不能说talk over about sth.。原句中的about似属多余。
Book II
Unit 9
3、我挑出几条英语成语，考了一下我的同班同学。
I picked out some English idioms and tried them on my classmates.
张译：I picked out some English idioms and tested my classmates’ knowledge of them.
理由：英语try on sb.意为“在……身上试用、试穿”，不是“考”，至少在没有一定上下文的场合不能理解为“考”。改译句中的“knowledge”意为“了解”。
Book III
Unit 9
6 、令我们宽慰的是，观众对我们的演出十分欣赏，他们中大多数是大学生。
Much to our relief, our performance was fully appreciated by the audience, mostly college students.
张译：Much to our relief, our performance was fully appreciated by the audience, most of whom were college students.（或whose majority were college students.）
理由：原译将一个省略句mostly college students强行充作同位语，犯了语法错误。要表达句中“他们中大多数是大学生”这一部分内容只能老老实实用定语从句对“他们（观众）”作出解释并与主句正常连接。
