Han is back on track

Recognition has been a long time coming for Han Geng,26,who took the most desired(令人渴望的) prize,that for Best Newcomer,at the Top Music Awards in Beijing on December 19. In spite of this,"newcomer" Han said how lucky he felt and how thankful he was for the attention.
Han will feel even luckier now,since a South Korean court has found in his favor in an important court case. He had asked the court to release him from his contract with the agency of Super Junior,the popular boy band. He complained that the terms of his 13-year contract were very harsh(苛刻的). Han had been the only Chinese member of the band.
Han released his first solo(个人的) album, The Heart of Geng, in July. On a TV talk show,Han told host Lu Yu that the single Say No was about his struggles during his Super Junior days. "I lived a life arranged(安排) by someone else and I had constantly to cater to(迎合) the demands of others. I just couldn't stand that kind of life any longer," he explained. "I asked myself:'Am I still who I am?' If life goes on like this,I fear I will get totally lost."
Commenting on the reaction of Super Junior fans to his departure from the band,Han said:"I knew how they [the fans] protrayed(描绘) me: ungrateful and even unscrupulous(寡廉鲜耻的),but I guess there are times in life when you have to speak your mind."The court's decision means that Han can look to the future with more confidence.
Han is now working on his won music,although he has his sights set on other kinds of achievement too.At present,he is shooting the movie My Kingdom(《大武生》) in Shanghai.
Acording to US show business newspaper Variety,the film is a tale of two brothers' search for fame,love and revenge(复仇) set in the world of Chinese opera during the 1920s.In another movie to be released soon,The Founding of a Party(《建党大业》),Han plays a patriotic(爱国的) student.
